We were tired of being inside yesterday afternoon.  This after 15" of snow in Dec, 7" and now 9" in Jan (I think it has finally stopped) has definitely put the "clamps" on going camping (that may not be much snow for you Canadians, but we're in Virginia).  So, I shoveled a path to Hokie, turned up the cube heater, put a DVD in the TV, popped some popcorn, crawled under the covers, imagining that we were out in the woods in the spring.  When we looked out the window though, the snow was coming horizontal, but we were as snug as two bugs in a rug.  Love that extra insulation, and double paned windows.  No condensation, and no drafts.  Only thing I noticed "cool" inside, was around floor level.  Definitely glad I had shoes on.  Someone asked one time about being cool in the bed, because of the air cirulating underneath.  Negative there, the insulation, plus the foam mattresses (their 5" plus our 2" topper) keeps it warm.  Go Escape Campers!

Dan, I just went and visited my snow covered trailer today for the first time in ages. I was showing it to a couple interested parties sent my way by Reace and Tammy. It sure had me dreaming.

Doug, I will be passing through your town on Feb 26 on my way to do the Bowron Lake Circuit. I heard that there was next to no snow at Bowron Lake, and folks have been having a blast skating on it.

My little girl and I went today to a RV show here in Madison WI, just to continue dreaming about this spring and summer and camping with our Cafe Egg. On the show were only stickies, of course. Most of them houses on wheels... The only really interesting items there for me were the truck campers; if I would have had a pickup truck anyways, I might have considered a fiberglass truck camper. We went, because I was really curious as I never went to an American RV show before. German caravans are very, very different indeed. And fiberglass trailers, especially the Escape is yet another style alltogether. And this show made me even more clear that fiberglass is my way!  I just cannot wait getting my toy this spring.....

We now own one, a 15' B sitting in their lot in Chilliwack, only problem is that wonderful snow.  Will be picking it up the end of April.  From the new pictures Tammy posted on their website, look's fantastic.  It's making for a long winter as we wait for our egg to come home.

No, if you'd had a truck, you'd have gotten the Escape "queen", the 5.0 : - )

Indeed I would have considered the 5.0, definitely if I would have had a Frontier or Tacoma around! You cannot (perhaps actually you can) imagine how happy I am with my choice of the 17'B!! However, Northern Lite and Bigfoot have really nice fiberglass campers for on the truck. H E A V Y though, asking for a big fat truck to go with. Really only an option if the truck is already in the family!

German travel trailers seem to be more plush inside. All colorful curtains, often more peppy colors. I like the color aspect, but not so much the curtains. Also the furniture looks more modern (I guess, European style). I don't always know though how the quality of some is. I have seen the T@B and T@DA available in the States, and was severely disappointed!!

Most of the big RV's we have seen this weekend seemed outdated to me. Why would you want to transfer the heavy furniture from your home into a trailer? Just bogs my mind! Travel trailers in Europe are usually built onto a light weight frame. The so called ALKO frame is most prevalent, and I actually like that to save weight! To put things into perspective, I would be able to pull an European full-size trailer easily with my 5000 pound rated 4Runner, whereas here you need a full size truck. However, the typical European trailer is still a stickie!

In a nutshell, also if I would have had the choice of Euopean trailers, I would have come to the same conclusion and ordered the same Escape 17'B! I just love getting a fiberglass trailer of such a pretty design and superior quality. I also think it is more robust. Also, I get an interior that just fits, and the colors of my upholstery I was able to do in European-colorful, thanks to Tammy and Reace's policy of enabling custom wishes... I get all I want!!!!

That 17'B is a great plan, and I know you will enjoy it!!!!!  I'm with you, why anyone would want to have their living room out on a camping trip, is beyond me.  But, each to his own I guess.  I know your level of anticipation is off the charts right now.  We picked up Hokie last March 27th (had to go back to our blog to check for sure...what a day that was), and I still remember the anticipation of the month before!  Have fun.
