No, the Coleman is not what Escape uses. I opted to forgo an A/C unit until it becomes necessary. The Coleman is likely the one I would get now.

Thanks Jim, I am going to ask Tammy if there is any chance to get that Coleman unit as the AC on our upcoming 17'B. It put out plenty of cooling for the Scamp and we are getting the extra insulation in the Escape so it should be plenty large.

Tammy just emailed me the following reply to my question about replacing the Carrier with the smaller Coleman. (Once again my compliments to Tammy for her quick helpful replies to my MANY questions!)

"Carrier has just announced they are no longer manufacturing RV ACs.

We are currently waiting for a new Dometic, AC which should start and run off of your Honda gernerator without problems.

The AC should arrive next week and we will have further information for you."

So apparently the great quiet little Honda 2000i will be fine for running the new AC.

The Boliy's don't appear to be Electric Start.  That would be part of the reason they are less expensive.  I bought a Yamaha EF3000iSE from Wisesales.com for around $1800 with no shipping charges and no tax (outside of Illinois).  It runs the 13,500 BTU AC on our Oliver just fine.

Has anyone tried the new Dometic AC unit with the Honda
2000 generator yet and if so how did it work?
